Abu Dhabi FM was founded by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in 1969, and it is one of the oldest Gulf radio stations.
The radio is distinguished by the presence of the largest radio library of recordings and data in the Arab Gulf countries, including the most important historical events of the United Arab Emirates. It also has the distinction of being the first Arab radio station specialized in broadcasting live sports events and matches.
