Majid magazine announced the launch of its ‘Majid the Patient’s Friend’ initiative that is set to give ill children, residents and visitors to the governmental hospitals alike free copies of the magazine bringing a smile to their faces while receiving their treatment. Majid magazine believes that reading is a good step to bringing joy to the souls and light to the minds and hearts of the patients, bringing a smile of hope to their faces and reducing their pains.      

The initiative is a part of the ‘Year of Giving’ initiatives launched by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The initiative was first launched with a visit to Khalifa hospital and Al Mushrif Children's Specialty Center in Abu Dhabi. The initiative seeks to visit as many hospitals as possible across the state with 50 patients in each hospital. The initiative includes giving copies of various issues of Majid magazine on monthly basis for one year as a part of a “Memorandum of Friendship” agreed on with a set of hospitals and medical centers across the emirates. 

This is a part of the magazine's ongoing commitment to serving the public interest in line with the strategic goals of the company’s responsibility towards the society corresponding with the vision and mission of our wise leadership, directions that always seek to contribute to the social initiatives that focuses on enforcing all types of social responsibility as an important feature of the UAE character. 

During the visits, copies of Majid magazines were placed at the entrances of all the children hospitals and given to the ill children alongside gifts such as printed shirts and flowers. The initiative was acclaimed by the families of the children and the hospitals' staff.  Certificates of appreciation have been submitted to the hospitals and its management for their cooperation with the magazine and its team and their efforts to provide distinguished healthcare for children.    

Launched by Abu Dhabi Media, Majid is the widest spread children magazine in the Arab World. The first issue of the magazine came out on  28 February 1979. Through its journey, the magazine have won prestigious awards including the Arab Press Award twice and Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Arabic Language last May.
